Tulsa

About the trip

To make an adventure out of seeing a friend in Tulsa, I decided to travel by overnight train to Denver, and then fly on to Tulsa from there. Amtrak made it easy. Board in Emeryville and get off in downtown Denver. I think it was around $500 for the sleeper; the price included meals. Tulsa is far more interesting than I expected. It houses the incredibly moving Greenwood Rising Museum focusing on the Tulsa Massacre of 1921, the Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan Museums, and beautiful Art Deco buildings downtown that were built during the oil boom. To add to that, for those who love outdoors, Tulsa is expanding its Botanical Garden.
